January 200 - UWE's Big Day Out!

UWE Underdogs proudly present to you the UWE Big Paintball Day out. This has been a while in the making and now finally it is here. This will be run at Skirmish paintball, in portishead Skirmish Paintball and is organised by both the society and UWESU.

For those of you that have been paint balling before, as you know, there is nothing to worry about, and all gear is provided, however this is to be run on a larger scale than normal rental days.

For those that haven't played before and are wary of being hit by a paintball, its ok, because it doesn't actually hurt that much. Those who have been hit will tell you, it hurts enough not to want to be shot, however not enough to want to stop playing. You will feel a sting for about 5 seconds, then it will be fine, ( and you get to take home some trophy bruises, should you get shot a few times). Once the adrenaline kicks in and the endorphines start flowing, you will notice being hit, but not feel the pain.

The way the day will be run will be meeting at the bus stops on the Sunday morning (22nd March) at 8,30. with a view to leaving at 9.00 am. (If you are not there by then, we will leave without you). Please make sure you have your student I.d. with you, as we will need your student number to make sure you have already paid.
Once we reach the site, you can leave your rucksacks/ bags on the tables, as we will be the only party there, so security is no problem. You will then need to go to the main office to collect your dog-tag and gear, and change into it.
You will then be asked to watch a safety video running over the basics of in game safety.
After this, the Skirmish marshals shall take over and run the games, with the UWE Paintball society members keeping an eye on you, as safety and bad conduct is a priority in paintball, and if members of the trip do not comply then you will sit on the coach until the end of the day.

The format of the games will be run as 4 teams, playing individual games, so everyone is able to play at the same time, and there is no waiting around. see the skirmish web site (here) *James, another link please* for the game zones.

Lunch will be free for all members of the trip and you will specify which lunch you would like when collecting your gear, and will be held at about 12-13.00. After which, more games shall follow, finishing at roughly 16.00

When the games are over, and the winners are announced, all gear needs to be handed back, and you need to either be fairly clean, or change into some clean clothes, (otherwise we will be moaned at by the bus company). Please can I remind you to put ALL rubbish in the bins at the end of the day and to thank the marshals for putting up with us.

A quick word of advice. As experienced paint ballers, and committee members, our word is final, and respect to us and the Skirmish Staff is to be given regarding safety and advice given to you. If you have any complaints, then go through one of us, and we can talk to the staff for you.
